I’ve got about three books going right now. Stephen King’s On Writing, Tess Gerritsen’s Bloodstream, and Jerry Spinelli’s Loser. I brought home a stack from work today for summer reading, including some professional stuff and some YA stuff and, as Barb called it today, “big girl books” that I claimed from a “Take what you want” box in the faculty lunch room a few months ago.
I’m also reading blogs like a mad-woman. My blogroll keeps growing. Eventually, I’m going to have to get rid of some of them, but for now, I’m enjoying them.
I’ve got it in my head that I’d like to have the kids blog about what they’re reading in the summer reading program in July. I don’t know if or how it will work, but I’m looking forward to the prospect. I need to talk about it with Chad a little tomorrow and see if he thinks there’s a reason we can’t do it. If he’s game, I think it will be great, as it will incorporate both reading and writing and should motivate other kids to read the books recommended by their peers. My only problem will be if the filters block a blog site. I’ll have to check on that too, I suppose.

I’ve finished my second towel. I made it a segment longer than the pattern called for. Still need to get the ends woven in and the button on before I can hang it up, but I definitely like it better than the first one I did which is hanging on the oven door.
I decided that I want to continue to make these to just have on hand for mini-gifts. I bought a one-pound spool of white sugar and cream (goes with everything!) and it will probably be my travelling knitting. I’ve also gotten the needles for the jacket-sweater I’m going to knit for AJ, so that’s another possibility. Right now, though, it’s so hot here that I don’t want anything wool on my lap for any length of time, so AJ’s sweater is on hold for a bit.
AJ and I have a playdate scheduled with Marcy and Natalie and their kids in two weeks. I think we’re all looking forward to it. (Well, the kids probably don’t know about it, but the mommies are definitely looking forward to it.) I’m also hoping to get AJ enrolled in some swimming lessons for the summer. We’ll see how that goes!
School ends tomorrow about noon, so hopefully I can spend the next few weeks going through old clothes and good-willing or e-baying them, reading, and knitting.
