It was the first day of school today. I showed off the library blog to some other teachers and hope that some of them will consider using it. Chad’s going to bring his kids to learn about it on Friday and we’ll get them going soon.
AJ was in rare form tonight. He did not want to go to bed. When we brought him upstairs, he laid down on our bed with John while I ran to CVS and Walmart. When I got home, we tried to get him down in the bed, but he kept insisting on his crib. John went and tried to calm him down without success. I went and held and rocked him and asked what was wrong. He just kept saying crib. When I put him in the crib, he would say racecar bed. He did finally collapse in the crib. I hope we don’t have too many nights like this!
Still hoping to get together with Susan while she’s here. Tonight didn’t work out.

I won the Little Tykes racecar bed on eBay yesterday. I drove to Jersey City today to pick it up. Mom and I sat in traffic less than ten minutes from the seller’s home and it took us close to an hour and a half to travel that ten minute distance due to a four-lane to one-lane merge and a detour. There was a sign on the detour road that said “road may be flooded” I chuckled and said, I doubt it will be flooded today…sure enough, the road was flooded but we made it through without incident. Our trip home was smooth-sailing—including lunch and gas/bathroom breaks it took us four hours to get back.
The toddler bed is an absolute hit with AJ! When we brought it into the house, he kept saying “My race car!” “Race car bed” When we had it set up in his room, he couldn’t wait to climb on. “My bed!” John told him I was going to put sheets on and he repeated until the task was complete “Sheets on Mommy.” He wanted a pillow and so John gave up his extra pillow until we can get him another one and that brought on “AJ’s pillow.” “My bed. My pillow. My race car.”
He went to bed without a peep tonight. John tucked him under a blanket and he’s there now sound asleep clutching his dump truck in his right hand.
It was absolutely worth the 9 hour round-trip to pick it up!

The trip to the doctor was uneventful but hopefully will move us forward. He did my ultrasound and then we met with him. He gave me my prescriptions, scheduled my next appointment and that was it. We dropped it off at CVS and then John and I went to see Must Love Dogs at the Lycoming Mall. It was really cute. After, we did a little shopping at the mall and then picked up AJ. Went to get an A/C unit for the computer room. John wasn’t feeling well and came home and was asleep by 6pm. I think I was asleep by 8!
Saturday we were still feeling a bit off and the meds had begun to do their voodoo on my emotions. I thought I was going to rip poor John’s head off on Saturday afternoon. When I realized/remembered it was the meds, I felt a little better. Saturday night I was back to being emotional and was crying for no real reason. AJ, bless his heart, kept signing sorry and saying “sorry Mommy.” I felt terrible that he thought he needed to tell me sorry, but he’s just unbelievably sweet.
Today, we tried to meet Matt and Susan at the pool, but the weather prohibited that, so we ended up coming home and I napped for a bit and after supper-time we took AJ to Brian and Jenn’s so he could swim for a bit. He had a blast and is just amazing in the pool. He doesn’t get upset or panic which blows my mind.
I started knitting a dishcloth yesterday with the intent that it will become something to potentially sell at Theresa’s shop. We’ll see how that all works out.

We had a great time in South Carolina. It was so good to see everyone again. As usual, Deanna had a packed house on Sunday. Most of the family made the trek to Irmo to visit. AJ’s taken to calling Deanna “Memaw” or “Mammaw” and when he got tired of visiting our various friends, he announced “Car Mommy” or “Memaw’s house” to let us know he’d had enough.
AJ came down with a fever on Sunday evening and had it Monday too. A rash developed by Tuesday. Johnsie and AM suspected Roseola. Hope AJ didn’t spread it to anyone else if that’s what it is!
Sunday, we had such fun with William and Anastasia at the fountains. All three kids were playing and were just sopping wet when we left. (We ended up taking AJ home in his diaper only!)
Monday we visited Evie, Clay and Ginny for lunch and went to try and help Ron and Karen prep to take over their website. Windows and dial-up problems made them decide that John will continue for a bit yet.
Luke, Dana, AJ and I went to Riverbanks Zoo on Tuesday after I went up to Mid-Carolina to see my friends. After, we went to Chik-fil-A for lunch and playtime. AJ was too afraid to climb, so it wasn’t much fun for him, but Joe did help him get up higher than he would have gone on his own.
Wednesday night we went to Monterrey’s for dinner with the Naylors and then went back to their house for Xbox, chat, and play. AJ and Luke did great playing together. I know they’ll both miss one another for a bit now. I started the front of the star sweater and showed Dana some knitting basics. At least it got me back to knitting.

Well, John and I are each now officially a year older. We head out for South Carolina in less than 6 hours, so this is just a post to say that there won’t be posts for a while!
