Proud Big Brother

Proud Big Brother

This is one of the many photos we took of AJ and Zoe at the hospital. He’s been so good with her and so far thinks she’s “such adorable.” He wore his big brother t-shirt to school yesterday after he came to meet her and everyone at school made a big fuss over him. Vince kindly got a picture printed so AJ could take it back to school with him and everyone fussed over her and how much she looks like her big brother.

I’ve been amazed at how happy he’s been to just hang out at the hospital with us. I really expected he’d be much happier to be at school playing with his friends, but he fooled me!

Zoe Margaret was born today at 8:10am. She was 5 lbs. 12 oz. and 17.5 inches long. She’s darling and looks a lot like her brother. John picked AJ up at about 10am and brought him to the hospital to meet her. AJ adores her already and has been so excited. He went back to school until supper time and spent the early evening with us.
We’re both healthy and happy. I feel so much better this time around than I did after my c-section with AJ. I slept so much of AJ’s first day and today I felt like a million bucks which was totally unexpected!

Advocacy

Published by Kim under News, Work, Confessions

Today, Sen. Arlen Specter visited our school for a Town Meeting on internet predators and on internet safety for kids. When I found out that he was coming, I decided that I would call his office and invite him to stop by my library to see the facility and the woefully inadequate collection. His office did not know what his schedule would be like to know if it was possible, but said that they would speak to the scheduler.

Things were running late, so I did not really expect that he’d be able to make it up to see the library, so I tracked him down to the office after the town meeting and introduced myself and asked him to sign on Sen. Jack Reed’s bill for LSTA funding and the Improving Literacy Through School Libraries funding reauthorization. He told me that his sister is a librarian and he would absolutely support the bill.

I did my good deed for libraries today. :)
