We’ve been watching for a Wii since we played over the Christmas break. We call stores, poke our heads in, generally make a nuisance of ourselves. Tonight, John came home with one. He’s been popping into Wally World to see if they’ve got any each time he goes to run and tonight there were actually three on the shelf.
We’ve only got the basic system at this point. We know we want WiiFit and the Lego StarWars set. What else should we be looking for?

Tonight, AJ was eating his dinner and I was feeding Zoe. He had dino-nuggets fresh from the microwave. I warned him that they might be hot. He took a bite and decided I was right. “Perhaps I’d better wait a little bit for it to cool off.”
SAY WHAT????
I just looked at him and smiled and said I thought that would be a good idea…but I was thinking “perhaps???”
A few seconds later having seen my expression, he said, (giggle giggle giggle) “I said perhaps.” Yep, you sure did! Where did you learn that word? “On Scooby Doo. The dog says it.” Really? I don’t remember Scooby saying perhaps. Velma, sure. Fred, sure. Daphne, maybe. Scooby and Shaggy, really?
If you don’t tune out the cartoons your kids watch, can you verify that Scooby has a vocabulary that includes perhaps?

On Thursday, AJ wasn’t feeling well when he woke up. He told me his tummy hurt. I asked if he thought he could go to school and he told me no—then he ran to the bathroom and got sick. I called in to stay home with him and he slept until about 9:30.
Around noon, he felt feverish. I couldn’t find any acetominophen, we were out (how’d that happen!) so we loaded up in the van and went to get some. When we got home he couldn’t/wouldn’t even unbuckle himself from the carseat. I had to carry him to the house. (Yep, he’s got that good ol’ Y chromosome we women all love so much!) When we got in the house, he took of his coat and shoes and sat on the bottom step and I had to carry him back up to bed. He ate two saltines and two pretzels and sipped some sprite and that’s all he had all day. I woke him up for some fever reducer about 9:30 in hopes that would keep him from spiking temp-wise overnight and making him get sick again. When I asked him if he could take the medicine, he told me he couldn’t because he already chewed them up. (He was mostly still asleep I think!)
Friday morning, he told me he thought he felt better and could go to school, but I figured since he hadn’t eaten really the day before, he’d better stay home. I told him Daddy would make him a plain english muffin when he got hungry and maybe later he could have some noodles and soup. He slept until about 10:30 for John and then it was close to lunch time so he just made soup. In the afternoon, there was a commercial for muffins on TV and AJ asked for one. John said we didn’t have any and AJ had a meltdown and told him that mommy said Daddy would make him one. (John thought he meant a regular muffin like corn, blueberry, etc.) John made him the muffin and put peanut butter on it without thinking. AJ cried and said I told him it should be plain so he wouldn’t puke. John says he told him “you’ve been good today, just go ahead and eat it” because we all know that the stomach bugs pay attention to good behavior! eye roll
I talked to both of them a few times during the day and nothing seemed to be unusual. I’d told John where the fever meds were before I left for work and when I’d last dosed AJ and when he should dose him again. When I got home, AJ was burning up and he had a rash all over his body and was itching like crazy—so much so that some of the rash was scabbed over from scratching. I asked about the rash—oh, yeah, John was going to mention that to me but he forgot—did he call the doctor? No, I didn’t know I needed to call. What about the fever? He didn’t notice he was warm. It was 4:55pm. I called the doctor immediately but of course they were on their way out for the night. I got an appointment for Saturday morning at another office and ran to get some antihistamine to help with the rash/itching and dosed him up with the fever meds too.
Saturday morning we got up and went to the doctor. We didn’t wait long at all after check in. When the nurse came in to check vitals, they decided to do a throat culture and sure enough, AJ had strep throat. Poor kid! I know how miserable I got from strep when I was a kid. We got his antibiotic script, picked it up, took it and came home and back to bed. It was a lazy weekend spent resting and relaxing with the kiddos.
Last night, I was having dizzy spells. While I was IMing with my mom I mentioned it to her and she wondered if it could have been one of my medicines—that was when I realized I hadn’t taken any of my morning pills. I suspect that was the source of the problem and so I took half a dose of one last night and back to normal this morning. I was still a bit off today, but I think I’m doing a little better tonight. My bronchitis is still pretty rough, but hopefully the antibiotics will continue to do their job and I’ll be back to healthy soon.

Due to an unusual glitch in the TiVoverse, our machine last called the mothership the same day Zoe was born. Therefore, at least three or four days a week I am reminded of exactly how many days old she is. Tonight while we were having dinner I did a finger probe because at day 350 Zoe still did not have any teeth. AJ got his first tooth at 5 months (roughly, that one I don’t know down to the day!) At three months Zoe started chewing and drooling and I was sure she was going to beat him in the tooth department but she fooled me, so it’s appropriate that she got her first tooth on April Fool’s Day.
When AJ heard that the tooth was coming up, he was very excited and wanted to see it or try to feel it but we convinced him to keep his fingers out of Zoe’s mouth. He carried on for a good three or four minutes about how exciting it was that she’s getting a tooth—and when did he get his first tooth. I told him he got his at 5 months. “Way earlier, Mom! My first tooth was on the bottom but my next tooth was on the top.” No, your first two teeth were on the bottom, but your second two came in when you were about six months old. Grandpa was here to visit and he gave you some special medicine. He put it on your gums and it made them feel better. “Yeah, that was good. He better come give Zoe some special medicine. Do you think he’ll still have it?” Oh, sure you can always count on Old Grandad to take care of things!
It was a beautiful day here today—73 degrees—it rained off and on all day but by the time I was done with school it was mostly sunny.
In fifteen days my baby will be one! How did that happen?
