If you don’t have something nice to say…

Well, today I’ve got no complaints about sweet smart AJ. It’s been rare of late, so I must record it for posterity. Pop picked him up from Y-SACC (aftercare) and we met him at their house.

AJ decided he wanted to walk home, so he took the umbrella and did so. Then he walked back to Nonna-Pop’s. Then, when we were ready to come home, he walked back while Zoe and I stayed dry in the van. He waited on the front porch patiently while I unloaded Zoe. (Good thing too because I would have told him he could have followed us into the garage if he was in a hurry!)

After dinner, he helped clean up, got his jammies on and showed up as Zoe and I were finishing The Paper Bag Princess on Tumblebooks. When the book was over, a list of words from the story showed up on the screen. Zoe probably pushed some button to get them there, I don’t know how, but there they were. I suggested to AJ that he try to read some of them for me. He didn’t want to, but did it without too much resistance. Here’s the list of words he decoded: fantastic, enormous, tomorrow, princess and whole. None of them are particularly easy, they do follow most of the rules, but after he was done saying it was too hard before he tried anything, he was enormously proud of his fantastic job! So was Mom!
