Dumbstruck!

Published by Kim at 10:03 pm under NewsWorkLSLplanning

Last night at supper-time, I was finally able to access my work email after a brief (5 days or so) period of being blocked because the IT guys reset my mail password when they reimaged my laptop. I saw an email from a sales rep I deal with regularly and clicked to open it.

Kim,
I hope you are sitting down…and I am not sure if you heard yet…but you won

I received an email..the high school was awarded…ready…...$ 250 thousand …you deserve it !!

Congrats !

I was practically speechless last night. AJ was so cute, cheering about how “awesome” it was, although he has no idea what it really means. I’m not even sure I know what it means! There’s lots of work to do. I’m getting started already. I bought two domains tonight in expectation of making a stronger web-presence in the coming school year. I stopped by to see the finalized proposal—something I didn’t get a copy of before it was submitted. There are some significant portions I thought were going to be in there that were eliminated—especially related to professional development for me. Even so, this is going to be amazing for my students and my district.

I’m so excited!

If you’ve been a recipient of an Improving Literacy Through School Libraries grant, I would really appreciate any advice or insights you can provide to me. I’m going to really work on getting through several professional titles this summer on collaboration and working with students and teachers. Every bit of outsider-backing for what we’ve got planned that I can find will be beneficial.
