And the work begins
Today, I checked my work mail about 11am and found that our Tech Director wanted to meet with me to look at the space where our computer lab is going to be. We agreed to meet at 1pm. I arrived at school at 12:35 and saw him heading in to take a peek. We looked at the area, reveiwed potential layouts, decided on one, agreed on some logistics, and began shifting books from the shelves to tables. There are some students doing internships this summer and we’ve got their help at least until they can determine whether they can be used in other buildings.
So, they’re pulling my reference books to be interfiled with the non-fiction. Tomorrow they’ll finish and then add yellow REFERENCE stickers to all of the books so they’re obvious on the shelves when inter-filed.
I’ve also printed lists of titles to be discarded, went through them tonight and marked some of them to retain and will have them pull the books, scan them for discard, stamp and box them.
They’ll also pull the oldest magazines we’ve got and box them for teachers to use for cutting up and other classroom uses. The more current ones will be moved to the top of bookshelves until we can determine their new location.
They’ll shift books on the shelves in the fiction section if they’ve got time (and they’ll probably be cursing me for the next who-knows-how-long for this gig!) I’m supposed to meet them at 8:30 tomorrow and give them guidance for the day. I have no idea how long what I’ve got planned will take them, but hopefully they’ll make some good progress!
In fun updates: Zoe has been making trips to the naughty step. She already knows that she has to say “Sorry Mommy” before she gets up. And she sounds so cute saying it. I couldn’t love her more! Even if she is standing on furniture, playing in the dog’s water bowl and refusing to clean up when she and AJ are asked to do it.
AJ turns six tomorrow. I cannot believe how he’s gone from a tiny little 6 pound 2 ounce failure-to-thrive infant to my strong, healthy, active boy. He rode his bike to Nonna and Pop’s today, twice, or maybe three times “because it’s faster” even when he takes the long way by riding around and around the cul-de-sac on his way there. He’ll come with me to work in the morning and hopefully we won’t have to stay too long. We’ll see how it goes.
