Getting healthier in 2010

Published by Kim at 9:47 pm under NewsConfessions

My goal for the new year is to improve my over-all health. I’ve got two great motivators in my children. :) I want to enjoy them. I plan to increase my activity level (which won’t take much, in all honesty) and pay more attention to the food going into my mouth. I’m not sure what I’m going to do as far as an eating plan, but I’m leaning toward doing Weight Watchers points because it’s something I already know.

Santa brought us a scale for Christmas so I can do weigh-ins at home without paying to play. If I find that I’m not doing well enough on my own, I’ll do meetings, but I really don’t like the meetings, so I think I’m going to skip that if I can get away with it. I joined SparkPeople to log my progress. (Nice iPod Touch integration, so I can use that too.)

I want to make a change that I can live with and keep up. I want my excercise to be low-impact because of my bad knees. I am going to try Pilates and Yoga for their other benefits (stress reduction and healing.) I don’t expect this to be a common topic of my posting, but I am putting it in writing to make my personal commitment to change.

Happy New Year!

I am counting points once again. I know it is something I can do, if I stick to it. Last year I lost 20 pounds and did great until the flu kicked me off my game. I highly recommend the Leslie Sansone walk at home DVDs. They are also on Exercise TV on Demand. I found them with a fluke. You can start w/a 1 mile and move on up. They were easy enough to do in a living room and make my heart rate move. I hope to start back up on them now that my asthma is back under control. Good luck and know I will be here doing the same while cheering you on.

I’m back to counting points as well. I’ve been going to meetings for a few months but haven’t been counting and I really need to do it. I have been exercising though so at least there’s that.
