Susan's Mosaic

Susan saw mine and wanted one of her own. She doesn’t have a blog (yet!) so I agreed to post it here ‘nuff said.

Published by Kim under News, Fun Stuff, Confessions

So, after a crazy year in yet another y a h o o group, a friend and I have decided to create a new group called Passive-AggressiveMommiesRUs, invite the appropriate folks and then leave.

I’ll take names of people you think would be good in (ummm….make that needful of ???) such a group in the comments. If you think you’d be a good fit, be sure to leave a comment as well!

You snooze, you lose

Published by Kim under News, Confessions, AJ, Zoe

If only that could be a weight loss solution! I’ve been feeling really drowsy during the day this week, I could lose a bunch this way. ;)

Yesterday, AJ tried to avoid going to school by claiming he was sick. But he wanted to eat. And he couldn’t keep his hands off his sister. And he was driving me insane! I finally told him that either he settled down and was sick, or he was going to school. By 10:30 we were on our way. It turned out that he was “sick” because his best friend didn’t want to play with him on Monday. They had a good day together yesterday though and AJ was well-behaved.

Last night we finished reading Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing and this morning we started reading The Adventures of Captain Underpants. AJ’s enjoyed Tales and after we finish Capt. Underpants, we’ll go back to reading about Fudge—I’ve got Superfudge and Fudge-a-mania hanging around waiting for him.

John’s been running, which is great—for him. For us, it’s been a real problem. He wants to run after work and before dinner. That meant that last night, we didn’t get dinner until 6:30 and the kids are usually in bed by 7. It’s just not fair to them to have to wait that long. I told him he either needs to run after his dinner’s settled (it’s light until 9pm for heaven’s sake!) or he needs to get up early and run before work. We’ll see what happens, but what’s going on now just won’t work.

Meltdown monster

Published by Kim under News, Confessions, AJ

I love AJ dearly, but I cannot take his meltdowns. Today, we went to the free movie at a local theater (Bee Movie, loved it!)

Afterward, we had lunch with John. When we first arrived, he was fine, but by the time the food arrived he was in full-on grump. John ended up taking him outside to talk to him for a minute or two. After that, they were back inside to pay. AJ came out with me and we loaded up in the car. He was clearly worn out (Zoe woke him up this morning when she was fussing) and I still wanted to do some quick shopping.

John offered AJ a piece of gum before we left and he declined. Then after John was gone, he wanted the gum. We’ve been talking about consequences of action (and inaction) and so I reminded him of that. He started crying. He started wailing and screaming and kicking my seat. When he hit Zoe’s carseat, I pulled off the road to wait him out. He eventually calmed down and apologized. WHY does he do this, it drives me crazy!

We did our shopping and he was great. We got home and he went up for rest good. Then he wanted to lay with me. I slept; he didn’t. He ended up out playing with the neighbor when we got up, and we ended the night on a positive. He even came inside without a fight. (I had more of a problem with the neighbor, but that’s not a surprise.) He fell asleep quickly, which is unusual. I guess we’ll see how Friday goes (tomorrow’s a school day—a break for me!)

Ouch! Too much sun.

Published by Kim under News, Apple of My Eye, Work, Confessions, Zoe

Zoe’s home this week because her daycare provider is on vacation. We slept in this morning (Monday and Thursday are AJ’s days for preschool for the summer), got up, had some breakfast and went to my cousin’s house to enjoy the pool. AM is watching his kids on Mondays, so we hung out with her and her daughter and all 6 girls (including Zoe.)

Z had a great time in the pool, seems to be a natural in the water, she actually moved her arms and legs enough to swim off of my hand when I was holding her up at one point. She didn’t fuss about going under water, other than to pull her pigtails when it got wet. I managed to get her covered with sunscreen so that wasn’t an issue, but I forgot to take care of myself and we were out in the sun for about 2 hours at prime time (10:30-12:45 or so) and I’m a bit red at the moment.

Tonight was my knitting night, so after the kids were in bed, I headed out. I’m at the decreases on my first sleeve on Daisy. I should be able to get it done in the next few weeks if I actually make an effort to work on it, but I’ve been bad about being motivated to do much other than during our knitting gatherings.

Tomorrow, I’ve got a meeting in the late afternoon, so I’m taking the kids to Mom’s and I’ll go into school to clean up and pack up my things to be moved to the high school. I hope that they’ll move things for me—I think I should be able to send things via district delivery. I don’t want to have to haul it all myself!
