Curious as a cat Meme

Published by Kim under Fun Stuff, Memes, NaBloPoMo

1) What is the longest time you could spend alone with your significant other (and no one else) before needing a break or time with other people?
A long weekend would be glorious, although we’ve become so used to having the kids around, we always feel weird when they’re away at my folks. I think it would be nearly impossible to actually go a whole long weekend without seeing anyone else—how do people manage that?
2) Has there ever been a time in your life that a change has occurred that you strongly resisted but that turned out for the better?
The end of the relationship I was in before I met John was one I didn’t see coming and thought was going to break me. I was a real mess for much longer than I’d like to admit, but I’m so glad now that things ended. We broke up once before and I fought my way back into his life but it was definitely the wrong relationship at the wrong time. I’m so glad that I found the right relationship with the right man! (Why do women do stupid things like this all the time?) In retrospect, I was emotionally abused in that relationship but I never would have admitted it at the time.
3) What is gossip and why do people do it?
Gossip is an excuse for a coffee break. Seriously, though, I think that gossip is destructive and hurtful. I think people do it in an effort to connect with others, but it’s usually mean-spirited and can alienate people.
4) If you could completely remove someone’s vocal cords for a year, whose would they be?
Mariah Carey or Whitney Houston
5) Show and Tell. What comes to mind first when you see this picture? Or, tell a story if it reminds you of one.

This picture reminds me of the summer my dad rented an apartment in Cape May with some friends. We had a lot of fun there and I enjoyed the beach, the music in the nearby bars, and spending time with my dad.

I got this meme from Curious as a Cat.

Tricks and treats

Published by Kim under News, Fun Stuff, AJ, Zoe, Kids Are Funny!, NaBloPoMo

Zoe AJ

AJ and Zoe spent last night at NonnaPop’s and went trick or treating in our new neighborhood. They only went to about 5 houses—we’ll be living out in the country when we move). Even so, they’ve got a huge bagful of candy loot. One thing about living in the country: you don’t get many trick or treaters. The people were so glad to have kids come by that they gave out a handful to each kiddo.

John and I went out to dinner and a movie for our anniversary. We saw W. It was really good and actually made me feel some sympathy for Dubya. My mom wanted to know if it gave me enough to change my mind about McCain—she’s such an optimist! :D Afterward, we went to dinner at Haywood’s. When Kim, the owner, found out we were celebrating our anniversary, he bought us a drink. We had a really nice dinner and then came home and relaxed until it was time to pick up the kids this morning.

After lunch, we went to check out furniture for the new house and I think we found a sectional sofa for the family room, a head and footboard for our bed, and possibly a bunk bed for AJ. We just have to decide if that’s really what we want for furniture in his room. They’ll give us a decent discount for purchasing the floor items and store them until we can have them delivered to the new house. We’re still going to try and get a little bit better deal by paying cash.

“She’s a smart one”

Published by Kim under News, Fun Stuff, Apple of My Eye, Zoe

That’s the line in the email from Vince today. Zoe was at NonnaPop’s and walking out to the mailbox with Pop. He was talking to her and “she was talking Dutch” to him. When they neared the mailbox, he asked her, “Where’s Zoe’s new house?” and she turned and looked at the house and said “Dere!”

She’s clearly the apple of Pop’s eye. :)

Rankle Hiway Palin

Published by Kim under News, Fun Stuff, Building

So, it seems that if Sarah Palin had been my momma, she would have named me Rankle Hiway. Jealous? You can find out what she’d call you too! I wonder if the Rankle Hiway was one of the earmarks they lobbied for?

Tomorrow they’re installing our basement walls. Our property has gone from wooded to ready for the ground floor in a week’s time. Amazing! building mosaic
