I’m not really sure what to write about today, so I went looking for a meme and found That’s My Answer!
The question of the day: What would we be surprised to hear that you’ve never done?
I’ve never tried a cigarette. My dad smoked and I hated the smell of it from a very young age. I remember when I was in high school, my brother and I would go to visit him and when we came home, I would dump all of my clothing into the washer as soon as I got into the house, whether I’d worn it or not.
I didn’t have friends who smoked to tempt me in high school or college. I did date a smoker or two and felt like I was making a huge compromise when we were together. John didn’t smoke when we met, but he smokes cigars now thanks to the influence of my uncle and brother. I’ve asked him not to smoke around the kids and he doesn’t for the most part but he occasionally smokes one in his car and boy does it stink!

1) What is the longest time you could spend alone with your significant other (and no one else) before needing a break or time with other people?
A long weekend would be glorious, although we’ve become so used to having the kids around, we always feel weird when they’re away at my folks. I think it would be nearly impossible to actually go a whole long weekend without seeing anyone else—how do people manage that?
2) Has there ever been a time in your life that a change has occurred that you strongly resisted but that turned out for the better?
The end of the relationship I was in before I met John was one I didn’t see coming and thought was going to break me. I was a real mess for much longer than I’d like to admit, but I’m so glad now that things ended. We broke up once before and I fought my way back into his life but it was definitely the wrong relationship at the wrong time. I’m so glad that I found the right relationship with the right man! (Why do women do stupid things like this all the time?) In retrospect, I was emotionally abused in that relationship but I never would have admitted it at the time.
3) What is gossip and why do people do it?
Gossip is an excuse for a coffee break. Seriously, though, I think that gossip is destructive and hurtful. I think people do it in an effort to connect with others, but it’s usually mean-spirited and can alienate people.
4) If you could completely remove someone’s vocal cords for a year, whose would they be?
Mariah Carey or Whitney Houston
5) Show and Tell. What comes to mind first when you see this picture? Or, tell a story if it reminds you of one.

This picture reminds me of the summer my dad rented an apartment in Cape May with some friends. We had a lot of fun there and I enjoyed the beach, the music in the nearby bars, and spending time with my dad.
I got this meme from Curious as a Cat.
