knitting librarian

I spent most of the day sleeping off my migraine. I don’t have much to report or blog. Apparently they were short subs again today. Unfortunately, that means the library was closed at the start of the day and it probably means that classes that were scheduled didn’t get to come. We’ll have to try and reschedule them for next week I suppose. I can’t beat myself up over it, but I sure do hate to let down teachers and keep students from getting their work done!

On the bright side, a conversation with one of the owners at Brookside indicates that the house should be ready for a final walk through the second or third week of January. I need to make daycare arrangements for Zoe so that we’re on track for the change. I hope it won’t be a problem!

The question of the day:  What would we be surprised to hear that you’ve never done?

I’ve never tried a cigarette. My dad smoked and I hated the smell of it from a very young age. I remember when I was in high school, my brother and I would go to visit him and when we came home, I would dump all of my clothing into the washer as soon as I got into the house, whether I’d worn it or not.

I didn’t have friends who smoked to tempt me in high school or college. I did date a smoker or two and felt like I was making a huge compromise when we were together. John didn’t smoke when we met, but he smokes cigars now thanks to the influence of my uncle and brother. I’ve asked him not to smoke around the kids and he doesn’t for the most part but he occasionally smokes one in his car and boy does it stink!

The Magic Garden was one of my favorite childhood shows. Carole and Paula were like the big sisters I never had. They performed in New York last weekend and the NYTimes website has an article including a clip from the show. The best news? They’ve released the show on DVD! When I searched for the DVD on Amazon, a listing of the New Zoo Review DVD also came up! (Another favorite.)

If anyone wanted to get me or my kids the Magic Garden, I’d show them how wonderful it was!
